A Restaurant full of Upcycled Pieces
12 Tables and 24 Chairs
I had been painted a high gloss white and left in the open weather for quite some time and needed love and attention. After cleaning and sanding, I painted them with Blake and Taylor Aged White – 2/3 coats and finished them with a coat of Blake and Taylor Clear Top Coat. For decoration I glued a wooden appliqué onto the top of the chair and then decorated both the appliqué with silver, gold, rose gold and bronze gilded wax. What a transformation.
Both hutches were in good condition but needed some TLC. The first piece had an old linoleum glued to the top (for protection) which had to be stripped and the glue removed so that it could be repainted.
I gave them both a light sand and applied three coats of Blake and Taylor Aged White and sealed with two coats of Clear Top Coat. I used silver and gold guilding waxes and finished them with Clear Diamond Glass Drawer Knobs.
The five draw dresser came up a treat. After a good clean and a light sand I painted the dresser with three coats of Blake and Taylor Aged White and sealed with two coats of Clear Top Coat. I used a silver gilding waxes and to finish Clear Diamond Glass Drawer Knobs. The finished product was stunning, I’m sure you will agree.
Cane Outdoor Set
Cane is a favourite of many people, including mine, and can be the perfect outdoor setting for a covered area. It is easy to paint – though it absorbs significantly more paint than a wooden piece does – it can make for comfortable, relaxing area combined with colour matched big and small cushions.
Both chairs were painted with two coats of Blake and Taylor New White and sides painted in French Linen and finished with a Clear Top Coat. The cane table and small stool were both painted with Blake and Taylor French Linen.
With a bit of time and effort our chairs, tables become a fresh new outdoor setting.
